This is another one I’m going to keep short and detail free because a lot of you may not have seen this flick. The Orphan Killer is about Marcus and his sister Audrey. They witness their parents murder and go to an orphanage. Audrey is adopted while Marcus is left behind and abused. Years later, he breaks out, intent on making his sister pay for abandoning him. I won’t go into specifics here, but let it be known that the characters act pretty logically until the climactic scene. Marcus is chasing Audrey with an axe. Audrey climbs a ladder onto a rooftop. When she looks back, the hatch over the ladder opens, and Marcus emer…wait a minute. What the hell was that?
Did he just throw the axe through the hatch? Why on god’s green earth would he do that? You can climb a ladder holding an axe. Look where it landed.
Marcus, you basically just gave the person you are trying to kill, who you can’t see at the moment and who could strike at you while you’re in a vulnerable position, your weapon. While we often see victims unwittingly giving the weapon back to the killer, we rarely see it the other way around. This makes absolutely no sense at all. As I said in my review of the film; “His slashing resume looks great, but if I were hiring psycho killers, this one bonehead move might have cost him the job.” By the way, this wasn’t a fatal mistake, but it came pretty close. Congratulations Marcus, you are today’s winner by virtue of you basically saying “Here, kill me with this.” Way to go dumbass!
