GIVEAWAY: Win a The Thing shirt featuring the art of Chris Kuchta

You can read SOC's interview with Chris Kuchta HERE.

If you go to horror conventions, then you know that the dealers rooms are full of visual artists of all types offering their unique takes on the horrific and macabre. Painters, photographers, digital artists, and everything else you can think of competing for your attention. As I was perusing the dealers room at Days of the Dead, I saw quite a few horror artists, may of them very good. One man’s work caught my eye and made my black horror loving heart skip a beat though. That man was Chris Kuchta. I was absolutely blown away by his art. The colors, the texture, and the feeling contained in his renditions of horror icons and scenes rivals any I’ve ever seen. These pieces belong on museum and gallery walls. Chris truly is talented. Better yet, he’s a hardcore horror fan. I chatted with him for quite a while, and I can’t remember exactly what we talked about, but we did get deep enough into horror geek territory that my friends shook their heads, gave up, and walked away. That’s when I knew he was a kindred spirit. He was cool enough to answer some questions, and I’ll be posting that interview tomorrow (actually, it's right HERE), but for now lets talk about something else he was cool enough to give me.

I told him about Son of Celluloid, and he was more than happy to let me share some of his horror goodness with you, my Cellmates. What I have for you is a killer t-shirt(size extra large) featuring a great piece based on John Carpenter’s classic The Thing. Not only do I think it's cool, not only do you think it's cool, but it carries the Carpenter seal of approval, as the legendary director told him that he particularly enjoyed the way Kuchta captured Kurt Russell’s likeness. See, there he is with the man himself. Check this bad boy out…

Yeah, that picture sucks, so here’s that close up of the artwork again…

Bad ass huh? Who wouldn’t want to sport this shirt? Well, if you’re lucky, you could do just that. Here’s what you have to do…

  1. Become a follower of the page and/or like the Facebook page HERE.
  2. Go to Chris’s website HERE. Take a look at the gallery.
  3. Leave a comment below with your name, email, and what your favorite piece from the gallery is.
Yes, you do have to do all three of those things to be entered in the drawing. It’s that simple. See, I told you it would be easy. I’ll be back tomorrow with the Chis Kuchta interview, so for now get cracking on this contest. You know you want that killer shirt. April 23 I’ll put all of the entries in the cauldron and randomly pick a winner. Good luck folks!

The name is Cash. The email is cash@horror101.ca and I have to say this guy's work is stellar. Does he have 2x cause I'm a fat ass. Love the Jason with the hockey mask with the mother shrine from part II. Its just something you've never seen before since the mask came in part three. The Klaus Kinski Nosferatu is excellent too. The Big Trouble in Little China....stellar. Oh man, that Salem's Lot is wonderful too.

The contest is for an XL, but he sells shirts up to 3XL on his site. I'm a behemoth, so it always makes me happy when people keep us big dudes in mind.

Met Chris at Texas Frightmare a couple of years ago. I still have my favorite piece of his, framed and hanging in my home -- Elsa Lanchester in BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

They are all great!! Hard to choose. I'm gonna go with the colorized "Creature from the Black Lagoon" since I've never seen a Creature tee this cool! Reminds me of an old Famous Monsters cover. Very nice!!

I have me Chris a few times at different events/fests. I think the last time I saw him was at a zombie triple feature in Illinois. Yeesh, how long ago was that? I am a huge horror (old and new) fan and his stuff is just amazing! I love seeing new items he creates.

I think it's safe to say that I may be disqualified for too many inane posts after this. I forgot to mention my favorite gallery picture. I love them all, but Bub holds a place near and dear to my zombie heart.
